KANU to join NASA ?

A section of Kenya African National Union party (KANU) has threatened to withdraw their support from Jubilee party and president Uhuru Kenyatta, after accusing Deputy President William Ruto of undermining some of its leaders. KANU Chairman Gideon Moi says Kanu will be holding a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss the issue before making a decision. “We are experiencing reckless statements from the Jubilee side, which is not safe for the two sides but I am meeting the president in person to discuss the matter,” Moi said. Speaking during the launch of the party’s Narok Governor Candidate Silvester Ntutu in Narok, Moi asked the DP to respect other people. “It is disheartening to see elected leaders threatened to the point they cannot express their views, the Deputy President should respect other leaders,”he adedd. Ruto forced to ask Buzeki to step down for Mandago for Uasin Gishu Gubernatorial race.

A twist of events has seen DP William Ruto ask Uasin Gishu governor aspirant Bundotich Kiprop drop out of the race for incumbent Jackson Mandago. Ruto said on Saturday that Mandago won the primaries in Uasin Gishu and deserves to be supported by all those who lost, including Kiprop alias Buzeki. “Waswahili husema asiyekubali kushindwa si mshindani (A Kiswahili saying goes ‘he who does not accept loss is not a true competitor)”. “Buzeki should now withdraw and back Mandago because we want to be a team.” Buzeki, who went independent after losing the nominations, vowed he will not bow out of the August 8 race. In February, the businessman denied claims Ruto was sponsoring him to run against Mandago. The rivalry between Buzeki and Mandago has sparked heated politics in Uasin Gishu, Eldoret town in particular, where Buzeki enjoys massive support.
